HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT? |
Writing Center conferences are scheduled for both daytime and evening hours. Evening hours are drop-in only; no appointment is necessary. Evening hours are held in Watzek Library. During daytime hours, conferences are held in Albany 206. You are welcomed to drop in, but you can also make an appointment in advance. Appointments are recorded on sign-up sheets in a notebook that is kept at the reception desk at the entrance of Albany 206. Appointment sheets in this notebook cover the current work day and the upcoming four work days. We encourage you, whenever possible, to make appointments well in advance. That way, you can find the time that works best for you (and it encourages you to get started on papers in advance!). To learn more about Writing Center conferences, click here. NOTE: We do get busy--especially at peak times during the semester—which is another incentive to make appointments in advance. But never assume that we are booked; give us a call, or drop by. If we are booked, don't give up. Students cancel! You can put your name on our wait list. But even when your name is on the wait list, your best strategy is to keep checking in with us to see what's available. Our goal is to find time for every student who wants our help. And you can enable us to meet this goal by acting responsibly: remember your appointments, be on time, and cancel those appointments you cannot keep, as far in advance as possible! So, how can I go about making an appointment?
But if you decide to use e-mail to make an appointment, here’s what you need to do:
Our receptionists will check messages in the order in which they are received. If one of your preferred times is available, your name and information will be entered into our appointment book, and we will e-mail you information about your appointment. NOTE: Do not e-mail drafts to the Writing Center e-mail address. For more information about drafts, click here. It will be your responsibility to check your e-mail in a timely fashion, and to record the day, date, and time of your appointment so that you will be sure to remember it! |
