Reductions on campus have and will continue to be a large part of this campaign.

Transportation Improvements

• more students are encouraged to live on campus, and the new apartments serve as a good motivation.
• began charging for parking
• Better transit options developed (the free shuttles) for students, staff, and faculty, cutting single-occupancy travel by nearly 50%.

Natural Gas

• The College upgraded its natural gas boilers in the mid-1990's so that, even when campus square footage increased by 10%, the College's natural gas usage declined.

Green Power for the dorms

• We are the first college in the country to offer students the option of purchasing green power for their dorm room. This project was started last year by SEED, and will hopefully be expanded in the future.

Michael Sestric, campus planner, has been essential to the reductions taken here on campus. Not only is he a champion of green building and planning, but also, his office provided the last block of funding needed to purchase offsets to make us Kyoto compliant.
