| Photos of plants. I'll post images of plants we read about on our "Plant images" page, but if you're interested in accessing other images, here are some good sites to start with: California plants are well represented by a huge collection of photos at the California Academy of Sciences here. The Plant Image Gallery has an extensive collection of photos, accessed by family name. |

| Botanic gardens. The Missouri Botanical Garden. Check out what's going on at one of the country's great botanic gardens. Lots of research goes on here, particularly in tropical botany, so you might want to keep an eye on "Job Opportunities" and "Research" links. There's also the Arnold Arboretum at Harvard, the New York Botanical Garden, the Morton Arboretum in Illinois, and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, England. | |||||||||
| Botanical glossaries. A general site that looks pretty good and claims to have over 4400 listings: The Garden Web site. This one at the Missouri Botanical Garden looks really informative. Here's a list of many dictionaries and glossaries, some specific for Latin names, others for forestry, paleobotany, etc. Here's one specifically for orchids. And a general one that emphasizes carnivorous plants. Another aimed at gardening questions. | |||||||||
| The Botanical Society of America is a good site to visit. Additional links galore. The "Careers in Botany" might get you thinking. | |||||||||
I haven 't used this one myself, but it seems to have a lot of potential: the Internet Directory for Botany. If you check it out, let me know what you think. More thoughts on P values: wikipedia |
