Lisa Fritsch '90 and Paul Grigg were married July 11, 1998, in Portland. Lisa works in human resources at Sonetics Corporation, a communication solutions provider. Lisa and Paul also run a home-based Internet marketing business. They live in Tigard.

Sean Hanley '90 was promoted to staff writer on the CBS series "The Nanny" for the remainder of the 1998-99 season. Sean lives in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Suzanne C. Segerstrom '90 is an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Kentucky. Her study on the effects of stress on the immune system was published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology in June 1998. The study was her dissertation for a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles. The study found that situational optimism had a much more profound effect on immune-system activity than overall optimism. The study has received coverage in numerous publications, including The New York Times, and was also featured on a Web site, Science-a-Go-Go.

Jay F. Bress '91 is the owner of Rocky Mountain Sports Outlet in Laramie, Wyo. Jay and his wife, Betsy, are parents of Matthew Joseph, born March 28, 1998.

Shannon Devereux '91 is director of project support for URS Greiner Woodward Clyde Engineering. She lives in Portland.

Hilary Getman '91 and Erik Pearson '92 were married five years ago. They live in Madison, Wis.

Debra Linn Guthery '91 and Stephen Guthery '91 are parents of Andrew Joel, born Feb. 27. They live in Cincinnati.

Debora Jorgensen Hall '91 and Travis W. Hall J.D. '98 are parents of Natalie Brooke, born May 8. They live in Tigard.

James Marquardt '91 has opened a chiropractic practice with Missoula Chiropractic Center in Missoula, Mont. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1998.

Laura Alis Mundt '91 and Tony Paolucci '91 are parents of Tomlin Alis Paolucci, born March 21. Tony was recently promoted to senior management analyst at Metro, the regional governmental body, where he is a computer network administrator for the growth management and transportation departments. Laura is a contracts and budget analyst at Metro.

Heather Murray '91 and Ty Newman were married June 6, 1998, in Anchorage, Alaska. Heather is an environmental chemist for DOWL Engineers. They live in Anchorage.

Gary A. Ryals '91 recently received his commission as a naval officer after completing Officer Candidate School at Naval Aviation Schools Command Naval Air Station, in Pensacola, Fla.

Maya Sen '91 recently received her Ph.D. in child psychology from the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Concordia University in Quebec, Canada, and is studying infants' and toddlers' understanding of gender.

Eric Taussig '91 is taking time off from working in corporate finance at Citicorp Securities in New York City to earn an M.B.A./M.A. at The Wharton School and the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management & International Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. The 22-month program began in May in Philadelphia. In June, he traveled to Beijing and Shanghai, China, to meet with management personnel for the China-based operations of major U.S. companies and conducted a small consulting project. In August, he returned to Wharton to begin the regular M.B.A. program.

Wendy Roach Wollaeger '91 and her husband, Dan, are parents of Skylar, born Dec. 5, 1998. They live in Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.

Kristi Doherty '92 and Robert Mollard '94 were married Aug. 16, 1997. They are parents of Nicholas, born April 28. They live in San Francisco.

Penny Foos '92 is a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines. She is based in Phoenix, Ariz.

Holly Hanna '92 completed her master's degree in library and information science from the University of Washington. She works in the San Francisco Bay area as a systems librarian for Innovative Interfaces Inc. She lives in San Francisco.

Elizabeth VanderVeer Harris '92 and Philip Harris J.D. '92 are parents of Nathan, 4, and Noah, 1. Elizabeth graduated from medical school at Oregon Health Sciences University in 1998 and is training in internal medicine at Providence St. Vincent Hospital. They live in Portland.

Marybeth Cruikshank Hicks '92 remarried in 1997. She met her husband, a computer programmer, on the Internet. Marybeth is a housewife and a writer. They live in Bend.

Chelsea Robinson Jamison '92 and her husband, Jasper, are parents of Jules Koa, born Jan. 19.

Denise C. Julian '92 graduated from Gonzaga Law School in December 1998. She lives in Spokane, Wash.

Paul D. McFarlane '92 recently joined Betts, Patterson & Mines, P.S., in Seattle as an associate in the insurance defense and transportation practice areas. He graduated cum laude from the Tulane University School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal. Paul lives in Bellevue, Wash.

Michael Sterzel-Hildebrandt '92 teaches English as a foreign language and German in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He also owns a small business, One Way English, and is learning Portuguese.

Megan Gaspers Whitaker '92 and Al M. Whitaker III are parents of Allan (Mac) Mackenzie Whitaker IV, born March 7. They live in McMinnville.

Andrew Yerkes '92 is pursuing a Ph.D. in English at Rice University in Houston. He is reading for qualifying exams which will focus on 20th-century fiction and critical theory.

Shawn Alderman '93 and Tori Roche '93 were married Aug. 15, 1998, in Agnes Flanagan Chapel. They live in Tigard.

Edward Ames '93 graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in May 1998. He is the proprietor of Timbuktu and imports antiques and furniture from Southeast Asia. He lives in San Antonio, Texas.

Greg Bowers '93 is the new director of music ministry for St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Portland. Previously, he was director of music, organist, accompanist and conductor for the St. Louis DeMontfort Roman Catholic Church in Sound Beach, N.Y., and the musical director for Public School 87 in New York City.

Yukari Ito '93 has been admitted to Mills College Graduate School in Oakland, Calif., in the child-life program for the fall 1999 term and was awarded an assistantship.

Renne Brock Richmond '93 has been accepted into the M.F.A. program at Vermont College.

Jennifer Snarski '93 is working on a hiking guide for the United States. She is responsible for covering the Pacific Northwest. Jennifer resides in Portland.

Malik Wickramanayake '93 is the personal credit manager for Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp. Limited in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

McDannell (Mac) Brown '94 and Jennifer Ann McNulty were married Aug. 16, 1998, in the Wildwood Recreation Area on Mount Hood. They live in Portland.

David deGraw '94 graduated from University of California at Berkeley with a Ph.D. in chemical physics and took a job at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in Tokyo, Japan. He prices and trades global equity derivative portfolios.

Kaylie Ellis '94 and Robert Shores were married March 27 at the United Methodist Church in Lake Oswego. Kaylie is a service coordinator for Rogers Machinery. Robert is the manager at Bob Shores B.P. Station. They live in Tigard.

 

Christine Leath '94 graduated in 1997 from the Monterey Institute of International Studies with a master's degree in translation and joined a translation agency, Omega International, as project manager and account supervisor. She was recently promoted to manager of project services. She lives in Monterey, Calif.

Elaine L.Y. Lee '94 and Jon Pietsch were married Aug. 8, 1998, at the Washington Park Rose Garden. They live in Vancouver, Wash.

Douglas Mulford '94 received his Ph.D. in chemistry and will join the faculty at Pepperdine University as an assistant professor of chemistry.

Stacey Lynn Nichols '94 received her master's degree in translation and interpretation from the Monterey Institute of International Studies on May 16. During an internship, she was a translator for the World Cup 1998 in France.

Marla Reddekopp '94 and Dionys Murphy were married in 1995. They are parents of Dalen Alusdar, born Feb. 9. They live in Portland.

Robert Blunt '95 is finishing a master's degree in biblical languages at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Calif., and is applying to doctoral programs in anthropology and African history. Robert lives with Danielle Walters '95, who is finishing her master's degree in public health at the University of California at Berkeley. They live in Berkeley.

Daniel Drazan '95 joined the Watkinson, Laird, Rubenstein, Lashway & Baldwin Firm in Eugene as an associate attorney in September 1998. He works in business, real estate and employment law. He graduated in 1998 magna cum laude from Willamette University College of Law in Salem and was on its Law Review editorial board for two years.

Megan Fitzgerald '95 is in her second year of the nursing program at Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y.

Cable Green '95 and Lesley Parker '96 both attend Ohio State University and live in Columbus, Ohio, with their new Doberman puppy. Lesley is a veterinary student working on a master's degree in theriogenology and a doctorate in veterinary medicine. Cable is the director of instructional technology for the Council of Ohio Colleges of Pharmacy and a graduate teaching/research assistant in the School of Journalism and Communication. He is finishing his Ph.D. in communication.

Sean Hargens '95 served in the Peace Corps for two years and temporarily returned to Lewis & Clark as assistant office manager of College Outdoors. Sean works at the Northwest Youth Corps in Portland and plans to pursue a doctorate this fall.

Elizabeth Link '95 ran the Boston Marathon on April 19. She also completed the Honolulu Marathon last fall, finishing in 3 hours, 51 minutes and 45 seconds. Elizabeth lives in San Francisco.

Jason Oei '95 recently accepted an instructional position with Hong Kong Outward Bound.

Amy Timmins '95 completed her master's degree in English literature at the University of Colorado at Boulder in August 1998. She works as an administrative coordinator at The Riley Center, a domestic violence agency and shelter in San Francisco. Amy lives in El Cerrito, Calif.

Justin Adams '96 ran the Boston Marathon on April 19, completing his sixth marathon in 3 hours, 18 minutes and 53 seconds. Justin lives in Davis, Calif.

Ever Carradine '96 recently was featured in two television series, "Veronica's Closet" and "Party of Five."

Safi Omar '96 has been working for Kuehne and Nagel, an Austrian company in Dhaka, Bangladesh, for the past two years.

Craig M. Scott '96 is in his third year at the Seattle University Law School. He is married to Keely Merrigan '96, who is finishing her master's degree in library science at the University of Washington.

Maiya Shaw '96 finished her master's degree in international affairs at Columbia University in May 1998 and is now a conservation organizer for the Sierra Club. She lives in New York City with her cat, Kuda.

Kimberly Bissell '97 is pursuing her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

Preston Crawford '97 and Bonnie Tompkins '98 were married on Aug. 1, 1998. Preston was recently promoted to information technology coordinator for Computer Resource Group in Boise, Idaho.

Darren M. Drabek '97 is the assistant director of admissions at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Laura Edwards '97 and Todd Leeper were married on June 7, 1997. Laura is attending Bowling Green State University, where she is pursuing her Ph.D. in clinical psychology. They live in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Amie Hunter '97 is attending law school in Virginia and is a staff member at the Law Review.

Jenny Simpson Johnson '97 and Koeby Johnson '97 are parents of Karan Cassidy, born Jan. 9. They live in Ashland.

Jason Mokrovich '97 is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in sociology at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. His specialization is poststructuralist theories of sexuality with an emphasis on two main theorists, Judith Butler and Michel Foucault.

Katherine Scott '97 has been accepted into the graduate school at Johns Hopkins University to complete work toward a doctorate in environmental and occupational health.

Nathan Steele '97 was hired in April by the information technology department of Axiom Electronics Inc. in Beaverton to provide technical support for company network computers. Axiom Electronics manufactures circuit boards for aerospace, military and specialty applications, including the recent Mars Pathfinder spacecraft.

Rachel Webster '97 is the Gallery 37 public relations assistant at the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. She lives in Chicago.

Daniel Williams '97 and Claudia Barrios Aguilar were married April 4. Daniel is a research associate for the California Institute for Rural Studies in Davis, Calif.

Daniel Chang '98 recently moved to Whitehall, Penn.

Tanya King '98 accepted a position with Americorps VISTA as a coordinator of the Start Making a Reader Today (SMART) program in two elementary schools. She is also a volunteer with the ESL/ABE tutoring program at a community college and has trained as a court appointed special advocate (CASA) for children with Clatsop (County) CASA. She lives in Astoria but plans to move to Washington, D.C.

Candace Larson '98 was a winner in the fiction category of the Associated Writing Programs' 1998 Intro Journals Project, a national literary competition. She lives in Portland.

Suzanne Liberman '98 is studying at the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies in Yokohama, Japan. Suzanne received a Monbusho Scholarship to study at Waseda University in Tokyo for 18 months in the graduate school of psychology as a research assistant.

Ken Parks '98 lives in Chile and works for the News Review, a weekly publication providing the English language community with a summary of the week's news. He also writes free-lance articles for the Latin American & International Mining Journal.

Jessica Youngman '98 works for the Americorps program at the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve, a 600-acre ecologically rich marshlands south of Hillsboro.
