Zine Fall ProjectSpring Project

Le Printshop Zine: "Irregularity"

The Printshop is, up to now, the only member of the Student Media Board without an actual publication to our name. This year will see the printing of the first volume of the Printshop's very own art zine.

Each volume (one per year) will be titled with a single word, and students are invited to create a piece of art--image or text based or a mix of the two-- that they then pull (for screenprinting) or press (for letterpress or block printing) multiple prints of.

The prints are then bound together and the copies are distributed.

See the fliers (that will shortly be) around campus for more information.

Fall Project: Postcards

Our project for this fall semester is going to be sets of postcards (4x6"). Everyone who wants to participate designs a card--block printing, stenciling, screen printing, and using the letterpress are all free game-- and prints and edition of 25 copies of the card. We'll then mix and match the postcards to come up with sets of ten postcards (by different people) and then sell them in the co-op.

The postcard can have any design you want, and certainly doesn't have to be about travel. This project was done by the Printshop two years ago and there are a couple of old ones still around from that if you want to stop by and check them out.

Designs should be done by the end of October and once you do that you can get a set of blank postcard-size cardstock from Kelly or Amy and start printing! If you want to do block printing, you will have to get your own linoleum (at Art Media it's $2 for a 4x6 piece of unmounted linoleum, and about $4 for a mounted piece) but we do have carving tools and ink in the Printshop.

Spring Project: To Be Announced!

Watch this space. The Spring Project might just be the Zine though. We haven't decided.
