Men topple #23 UPS in low-scoring brawl, advance to Northwest Conference Championship

Go to the Men’s Basketball News link on the Puget Sound website and click the “On the Road” section. Scroll down to the “Scouting Lewis & Clark” section and it will read “The Loggers shouldn’t be too worried about the L&C home-court advantage as they are next to last in home attendance, only averaging 373 fans per game.”

One upset not enough to break women’s hoops into playoffs

The Pioneer women’s basketball team entered the final weekend of the regular season needing to defeat the top two teams in the Northwest Conference in order to make the playoffs. The Pios nearly accomplished this goal, defeating the Puget Sound Loggers on Friday night in their home finale before losing to the George Fox Bruins on Saturday.

Softball answers losses with first win of season

The Lewis & Clark softball team had forgotten what it was like to win. That is until last Sunday, when the Pioneers ended a 21-game losing streak dating back to last season. The Pios were last in the win column March 19, 2006 when they swept George Fox with a 7-1 win.

Whitworth sits atop the NWC, but Pioneer defense can prevent Pirate domination
Basketball heads to Spokane Saturday with conference championship on the line.

After the Pioneers thrilling first round playoff victory against Puget Sound on Wednesday night, the squad now faces a matchup with the Whitworh Pirates for the Northwest Conference Championship. The Pios and Pirates tied for the NWC regular season title with matching 13-3 records, but the Pirates were awarded the #1 tournament seed based on the tiebreaker.

Baseball struggles on NorCal road trip

The Lewis & Clark baseball team lost four non-conference games during their road trip to the Bay Area this weekend. Saturday’s doubleheader featured a Pioneer showdown as both Cal State East Bay and Lewis & Clark share the same mascot. They met on Friday, and were defeated by East Bay 14-9. The next day East Bay won the first game 8-2 and the second 7-2. On Sunday LC faced Menlo College, losing 11-1.
