Free U offers learning without hierarchy, tuition
For over 30 years, Lewis & Clark has offered classes without homework, tests, grades or tuition. It may sound too good to be true, but in fact LC’s Free University does just that. The only negative is that these classes won’t get you any closer to a degree.

Battle of the organic grocery stores: Market of Choice, New Seasons compete for your business
When it comes to grocery shopping, most Lewis & Clark students go to Fred Meyer. But the store, owned by Kroger’s, does not meet the LC standards of buying locally and organic. Market of Choice and New Seasons are two of Portland’s locally-owned and operated markets. They not only support natural and organic food, but are also just as convenient as Freddy’s. The only problem that arises is which one to choose.

Adobe Rose disappoints spice-craving Southwestern clientele
Located on one of the liveliest streets (1634 SE Bybee Blvd) in the heart of Sellwood, this tiny New Mexican restaurant is one of the few Southwestern cuisine hotspots in the Portland area. Set in a small, homey room, painted an earthen burnt orange and decorated with everything from fake plants and cow skulls to posters of chilis and corn, this place offers everything a typical cantina should.
