Hardcore realist Partovi a changed man
by Quigley McDuffit
Speaking from his tree-sit platform, one hundred
feet above the Eagle Creek Wilderness Area, Cyrus
Partovi, Senior Lecturer, confessed that he is now
a changed man. "I am now a changed man,"
Partovi began in an exclusive Pioneer Log interview.
"Five years ago,
I would not be saying these things," Partovi
continued. "But now I admit that, you know, the
environment is important."
Added Partovi, "I
am an environmentalist. I care about pollution and,
you know, stuff."
Partovi confided that
the events of last year took a toll on him. "I
realized that I could no longer idly stand by while
there was so much injustice in the world." After
his own brushes with institutionalized bureaucracy,
Partovi realized that there were others, more disadvantaged
than himself, that he could help.

Affairs guru Cyrus Partovi recently participated
in the Eagle Creek tree sit. An environmentalist,
Partovi has plans to revamp SEED as well
as the Radical Activist Group with his
hard-core idealist outlook.

Partovi
also noted that he is no newcomer to the
realm of social justice, citing his long-standing
friendships with South African Archbishop
Desmond Tutu and Louis Farrakhan from
the Nation of Islam. "My friendship
with Desmond has been inspiring,"
said Partovi. "His passion for human
rights and justice is contagious."
Partovi also listed other things he now
cares about: world hunger, the spread
of AIDS in Africa, United Nations reformation,
IMF and World Bank restructuring, the
inclusion of environmental standards and
worker's rights in the World Trade Organization,
the children, and small homeless puppies.
"We are the world," concluded
Partovi.
Finally, Partovi confessed his reason
for granting the interview. "I need
to raise awareness of these worthy issues,"
he said.

"Let the word go out all over the world,"
Partovi cried with passion as he rose to a standing
position, shaking the tree platform dangerously, "Partovi
is a changed man!"
