The Studio/Back Yard

	Finally the raised beds are in place. They are located between the back of the studio and the upper bed area in the northwest corner of the yard. This is the area with the most direct sunlight. The two beds are each 15x3 feet and provide quite a lot of room for planting veggies and herbs. They are located in a sloping area and therefore were more difficult to construct than on the flat. There was more than 22 inches of slope between the north and south ends - and that dictated that they be tiered - a more involved process.
This picture is taken next to the studio looking toward the NW corner. You can see the first stone wall that we built in the background. The beds were filled with a sandy loam and compost mix that should be a very good growing medium. We intend to plant tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini (only one), basil, thyme and other goodies as we decide on them.
	Here are some of the pepper plants that Robin has planted. We are looking at this as a sort or "community garden" to share with the neighbors. Robin is a consummate gardener and surely has the greenest thumb of any of us.
This is the beginning of the drip irrigation system. This manifold will control four separate watering zones. All of the tubing will be buried. I am in the process of finding manifold housing that will be buried along with the timer that controls the valves. All of the parts and some of the design were provided by Dripworks. This company is a great place to get information and required parts for an drip irrigation system. I should finish this up in the next two weeks or so and then I can concentrate on the lighting system. More on that as it evolves.
	This is a view of the yard from the upper path near the back of the yard. You can see the turf, the wine barrel planters that will hold bamboo in the near future, and the deck at the back of the house. The plants all seem to have taken to their new environment very well and are growing rapidly.
