The guitar, it seems, has always been a part of my life and I'm eager to share the joys of the instrument with my students. I began playing the guitar when I was nine years old and grew up on the music of the Beatles, Cat Stevens, Led Zepplin and other great bands and guitarists throughout the 60's and 70's. I formed and played in my own rock n' roll bands, played jazz guitar and began playing classical guitar at the age of eighteen. I've been studying, teaching and performing professionally ever since. I have been teaching classical and folk guitar at Lewis & Clark, both in private lessons and in classroom settings since 1980 in an adjunct capacity. I am also an adjunct faculty member at Reed College. I currently teach class guitar, (both beginning and intermediate - MUP 134), as well as classical and folk private lessons, (MUP 165, 166 and 365). In addition I maintain a private studio of guitarists as well as a touring, recording and arranging schedule both as a solo classical guitarist as well as with soprano Janet Chvatal. I also give frequent guitar workshops on a variety of subjects. As an adjunct professor I don't keep office hours but am available by email. It's also my hope that this website will prove helpful in answering any questions you may have.
