Mrs. Yasuko Hirokawa
age: 42; occupation: housewife; family: husband and three children
<at that time> age: 9; at home (2,000 meters from the hypocenter); younger brother died; parents and three younger brothers injured.

"Four or five trucks in the square suddenly burst into flame. Telegraph poles were burning, and the wooden walls too. I felt uneasy. Am I alive or am I in a different world..." (written at age 16)

 

Pieces of Window Glass
Yoshi Fujikawa (30 at the time) was at home, 1,500 meters from the hypocneter. She was caught under the building, and numerous pieces of glass had pierced her all over her body. She has several operations since 1946 to remove the glass. (The rectangular size is 2.2 cm x 0.7 cm.)
