sexualities and gender: stories and revisions

an invitation to participate in the twenty-first annual
lewis & clark gender studies symposium, March 13-15, 2002
Portland, Oregon

Faculty, students, and community organizations are invited to submit proposals for presentation at the 21st Annual Lewis & Clark College Gender Studies Symposium, March13-15, 2002. Keynote speakers will be Leslie Feinberg, author of Transgender Warriors: Making History from Joan of Arc to RuPaul, Trans Liberation: Beyond Pink and Blue,and the novel Stone Butch Blues; and Paula Kamen, journalist and playwright, author of Feminist Fatale,and most recently, Her Way: Young Women Remake the Sexual Revolution. Kamen is a research scholar at Northwestern University's Women's Studies Program.

You are encouraged to submit proposals for individual papers that address historical and/or contemporary issues of gender, race, sexuality, and class. We invite proposals from all disciplines, interdisciplinary studies, and community groups. While papers focusing on aspects of sexuality and gender are encouraged, they need not be limited to that topic. Individuals should submit a proposal for only one presentation. Individual papers will be limited to fifteen minutes and will be scheduled for presentation on panels that emphasize similar themes.

To be considered, proposals must include: a working title; a 2-3 page double-spaced abstract; your name, address, phone number and email address if applicable.

Deadline for Submission of Proposals is October 30, 2001.

Announcement of accepted proposals will be made by the
Symposium Planning Committee by the end of November.
