Welcome to the Pirates of Palatine Hill, a light RP guild on the Silver Hand server of World of Warcraft. Here you will find information on the history of our guild, the various adventurers that comprise our guild, information for members on the contents of our guild bank, the skills of each adventurer, and a place to add items you, as a member, desire, so that all of our collective efforts can benefit everyone in the group.

The History of the Pirates

The Pirates of Palatine Hill were founded in May of 2005. At the time, its membership consisted exclusively of people who were either students, staff, or alumni of Lewis & Clark College, in Portland, Oregon. While the group has expanded to include friends and significant others of the Lewis & Clark community, the guild's aim continues to be the creation of a place where a small, tight knit social group can gather to game and discuss issues related to Lewis & Clark. Membership is by petition to one of five guild officers: Andrew Kugler (undergrad 2007 alum), Diana Wiener Rosengard (law student, LC undergrad alum 2006), and David B. Rosengard (staff member, LC Gaming Society advisor, and graduate student), Elliot Smith (undergrad), and Nick Tiller (undergrad).

The guild bank page has now been updated to point to an up-dating web display of the Bank's contents -- the Guild Policy page has likewise been updated to refect the now fully functioning guild bank.

We hope to have a guild forum and run/raid secheduling system up around the begining of Winter Break.

Horde Tabard Selected
A tabard design for Manifest Destiny has been determined by popular guild vote... ...if you've been on Scryers (with a guild character -- we can track time-last-on-line otherwise) in the last month, a tabard should be waiting in your mail box...

Our Destiny is Manifest, Updates, & (again) Shirts
The Pirate's Horde Guild has reconstituted itself on The Scryers server as Manifest Destiny
...while we may add more specific Manifest Destiny web content in the future, anyone currently intersted in joining should contact any of the guild officers listed above as being able to grant Pirate's membership.

On-Campus Connection Problems
Many of us living on campus have encountered unpleasent issues with our attempts to log into WoW becoming stuck at the Authenticating or Handshaking stages...
...Fortunately Nyriad has asked Information Technology about this, who say it is related to an issue with their methods for managing bandwith usage -- they claim to be working on it.
If you find yourself continuing to have connection problems while on-campus, please let IT know.

Updates
The Add-ons and Macros page has been updated for Patch 2.2.

Shirts
We are reworking our shirt schemes so that we can take advantage of the LC Print Shop's awesomeness, which will also bring costs down nicely -- details to follow.

BlizzCon (& Shirts)
Various Pirates are BlizzCon-bound at week's end.
In unrelated news, we have had a proposal for guild shirts:

    1. This art, in black, on the front of either of these shirts (Men's District Tee; Women's Cap Sleeve -- both in gray).
    2. Black text on the back reading "<Pirates of Palatine Hill>".
    3. Cost is X for Men's and Y for Women's Cap Sleeve. "X" & "Y" will be posted soon.

Email us to order (include the size you want and how/when you plan to get us money).
Shirts should be complete by August's end.

We Were *So* Prepared
Three Pirates took up position in front of Fry's for 8 hours in a snow storm in order to aquire the Burning Crusade Collector's Edition -- Shari's food was eaten, bodies were chilled, success was had. ...the subsequent cancelling of LC classes due to the snow storm was indeed a holiday of a blizzardy-nature, allowing for much Burning Crusade time.

The Burning Crusade
Despite the lack of updates the Pirates are still alive and kicking, and looking forward to the release of the Burning Crusade expansion on Tuesday. We've updated the guild roster and will be updating thre bank list as soon as we finish cleaning it out for the expansion. Remember to email phpirates@gmail.com if you need to add items to the wish list.

Patch Day!: Add-Ons & Macros
When the Servers come back up after tomorrow morning's downtime, Patch 2.0.1: Before The Storm will be active. One of the impacts of this will be that the WoW User Interface will now use LUA 5.1.1 -- this is good, because we get faster, smarter code; it does, however, mean that all old Add-Ons will cease working. In addition, many Macros will break, due to Blizzard changing some fundamental Macro components, in order to provide for more useful Macros, while blocking bots.

Updated Add-Ons and Macros can be found here...

Monthly update posted
Welcome back to school, all you pioneering pirates! The guild roster has been updated, as well as our policies for looting, banking, and guild status. Additionally, some items have been added to the guild members' wish list. We are still waiting to hear from our bank manager for an inventory update.

Good luck with the beginning of classes. Remember, that all raiding and no studying makes for bad pirate practice!

Going Live!
Yay for uploading! Pirates is now live, and we hope to have the few areas still under construction completed soon. The Guild Roster will be updated by 8.3.06, and we are now taking character back story submissions and screenshots (1 per character), which will be linked off the roster. Please send submissions to phpirates@gmail.com. Until then, happy pillaging!
