Ph.D. 1974 Oregon State University, M.S. 1971 Oregon State University, and B.A. 1965 Eastern Washington State University.

In recent years my research interests have focused on the seed biology of Pacific Northwest endangered plant species. Collaborative research projects have been conducted with several students including Deana Schneider, Susan Rakowski, Amy McIntyre, and Tonya Falk. In addition collaborative projects have been conducted with Dr. Edward O. Guerrant, Conservation Director, at the near by Berry Botanic Garden. The work involves microscopic analysis of seed structure using both light and scanning electron microscopy and determination of germination requirements. These studies have involved Frasera umpquaensis, Poa marcida, Trifolium leibergii, Calochortus umpquaensis, and several other endangered species. The projects have been funded by the USDI-BLM, Portland Garden Club, and US Forest Service. My teaching responsibilities include Plant Taxonomy - BIO 231, Plant Physiology - BIO 442, Microbiology - BIO 301, and training those students who are interested in Electron Microscopy. I have led several Lewis & Clark overseas study programs to Micronesia, Belize, Mexico, and shorter interim programs to Hawaii and Alaska.
