Laboratory Schedule for Marine Biology, Fall 2011

(Field trips and assignment due dates noted in red)

Lab exercises for marine biology are built around four field trips; one Friday afternoon trip to Bonneville Dam and three weekend trips to different coastal areas. Attendance for all scheduled lab meetings and field trips is mandatory.

Lab 2: Day-trip to the Bonneville Dam and salmon hatchery(Reflection due by 5 PM the following day... Saturday, 9/24)

No formal lab meeting: finish write up of Lab 1 (due on Wed, 10/5, by 1 PM)

No Lab meeting (Week of Fall Break)

Lab 3: The diversity of temperate rocky intertidal habitats.

Field Trip to Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) in Charleston.

Oct. 28

Lab 3 (continued): Analyzing patterns of distribution and abundance within the rocky intertidal.

Nov. 4

No formal lab meeting: finish write up of Lab 3

Nov. 11

No Lab meeting (Write up of Lab 3 due at 1 pm).

Nov. 18 - 19

Lab 4: A "hands on" view of basic marine biodiversity.

Field trip to the Newport Aquarium (has been canceled)

No Lab meeting (Week of Thanksgiving Holiday)

Dec. 2

Oral Presentations on marine diversity (criteria for evaluation)

Dec. 12

No lab meeting (last week of classes)
