Agenda Items

  1. Faculty Meeting: Dean Dodds will introduce the motion on voting rights, with a copy of motion distributed to all faculty members present. Dean Johnson will give his report and then give faculty the opportunity to ask questions. He will stop the questions at about 4:50 p.m. to introduce the motion. If asked, he will name the people who will be invited to apply for voting rights, and there will be time for questions and clarification.

  2. Faculty Home Purchases: Dean Johnson reported from the Executive Council that the College owns several properties that are currently available for purchase. The College retains ownership of the land, and the purchaser would own the improvements. The properties are in the $300,000 range, with the improvements costing approximately $180,000. The Executive Council would prefer to sell these houses to younger faculty members. The Divisional Deans will explore this with their colleagues.

  3. Faculty Travel Budgets: The Academic Council will distribute the $200,000, or whatever is left, among the three divisions and will let the divisional deans make the final decisions. The allocation will be based on an FTE computation and will be done as soon as the final amount available is determined.

  4. Computer Replacement: Jane Atkinson is trying to work out the situation without raiding the budgets, and the PCs should be starting to show up.

  5. Search Committees: Dean Schleef distributed a list of his recommendations for the Social Sciences search committees. Dean Dodds also updated the Arts and Humanities recommended search committee lists.
