    1. Inventing America. Due to the increased size of the first-year class next fall, it is estimated that four additional faculty will be needed to teach sections of Inventing America. The Council reviewed the list of spring instructors to determine who among them might be able to switch their section of I.A. to fall semester instead. Those faculty will be contacted very soon about the proposed change.
    2. A draft copy of the new Instructor's Manual was distributed to the deans for their comments. The manual will be distributed to new faculty members to advise them of important college policies and procedures related to classroom teaching, general information about facilities, offices and services, and policies and rules which govern the campus community. The manual was originally designed for use by adjuncts and visitors but distribution will be expanded to the tenure-line faculty as well.

    4. The Council completed their discussion of salary reviews, determined equity adjustments and set the percentage increases for standard, merit, and high merit raises. It was decided to make an equity increase this year at the lower end of the salary scale and to lower the percentage increases across the board.
    5. The Faculty Retreat will take place from noon on August 23rd through noon on the 24th, this year at the Salishan Lodge in Gleneden Beach, Oregon. The discussion topic will be the disciplines and interdisciplinary studies.
