Meeting Minutes
February 12, 2002
Present: Curtis
Johnson, Dean of the College; Dinah Dodds, Dean of Arts and
Humanities; Gary Reiness, Dean of Mathematical and Natural
Sciences; Harry Schleef, Dean of Social Sciences; Terri
Banasek, administrative assistant and recorder; and Rosie
Felton, administrative assistant for budgets and contracts.
Guest: Paul Moredock, associate vice president for
development and alumni relations.
Agenda Items:
- Paul Moredock spoke to the Academic Council regarding
improvement of faculty/alumni relations. He noted that
the best programs for alumni have been those with the
highest level of faculty interaction. Mr. Moredock
distributed a fact sheet listing population distribution
of alumni. He would like to be informed of upcoming
travel plans of faculty that could be coordinated with
alumni gatherings. It was suggested that Mr. Moredock
can gather that information from the divisional deans.
Mr. Moredock also reported that the Alumni College will
be held in June and the Alumni Honors Banquet in
November.
- Academic Council approved Dell Smith's recommendation
for an online registration process this spring.
- Dean Johnson received an offer to purchase an ad in
the Native American Education Guide for $650. Academic
Council agreed to forward the information to Mike
Sexton.
- Dean Johnson distributed information on the
Chautauqua Program to divisional deans for distribution
to faculty.
- Dean Johnson asked the divisional deans to read the
AAAS survey results for discussion at the Feb. 19
meeting. NSO will also be on the agenda. Currently
there is one student and Sandi Bottemiller running NSO.
How can we help to change that?
Next meeting: Tuesday, February 19, 2002, 9:30 a.m.
