Do well by doing good.

Lewis & Clark's Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) continues to thrive.  Students who participate earn academic credit for representing low-income taxpayers in disputes with the IRS -- including possible court appearances before the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Tax clinic participants are supervised by Jan Pierce, a former attorney supervisor for the Internal Revenue Service with 27 years' experience and the law school's full-time tax clinician for many years.

The LITC is a branch of the Lewis & Clark Legal Clinic in downtown Portland. Tax clinic credits count toward the Federal Tax Law Certificate, and participants may also satisfy their professional responsibility requirement through the LITC. The Income Tax I course is a "co-requisite" - it may be taken prior to, or simultaneously with, the tax clinic. For more information, contact Prof. Bogdanski on campus or call Prof. Pierce at 503-222-6429.  For more information, look here.
