Reviews of great books,
because bad reads are a waste of time!

Places to go, things to read:

'You are what you listen to--which is why no matter how beautiful, smart, witty and charming the woman, I could never go out with her if she owned a Celine Dion CD...' Read more of Ron's review of High Fidelity here.
Underworld, Don DeLillo.

The Dogs of Winter, Kem Nunn.

My favorite authors and their classics (which everyone should read...of course)

Richard Powers
Goldbug Variations
Prisoner's Dilemma
Operation Wanderding Soul Galatea 2.2
Gain Plowing the Dark

Martin Amis

I was turned on to Martin Amis by a English friend living in Canada.

The Information, A hilarious book about how well adjusted authors really are. A definite must for friends of authores struggling to understand their 'afflictions'.
Some call Time's Arrow one of Amis' misses, but I thought it was clever and very well written.  A great read for those who just cannot get enough Tarantino. I cannot help but think that critics which read London Fields would not have been as surprised by Night Train, Amis' stab as a hard boiled detective novel.

William Gibson

Probably the best Cyberpunk author writing today. The only other guy who comes close is Bruce Sterling.

Mona Lisa Overdrive
Neuromancer.  Virtual Light.
