Questlaw Meeting Minutes
January 26, 2005
Hey all you queer and queer friendly folk!
We had a meeting today! It was great. We met Kristin from BRO, who told us all about the Day of Action in March, and took our polaroid photos to show our lawmakers in Salem that there are queer folks of all kinds from around the state.
We felt good about that, and then we talked about what we want to do for the rest of the semester. We decided on the following events, but we need YOU to make them happen and to enjoy them when they do happen, so please, even if you've never been involved with the group before, get involved now and tentatively mark your calendars!
First, we are going to have a "coffee talk" with a professor. Hopefully the first week of February. Stay tuned for details.
Next, we decided to make an awesome donation to the PILP auction. We're going to do a "queer video library" with some DVD's of queer positive films, like Wizard of Oz, Boys don't cry, that one about the cheerleader, etc. SO, right now think of your favorite queer movies and send an email to bszyper@lclark.edu.
Next, we decided to make a donation to the shepherd scholarship fund.
Next we decided to subscribe to the Advocate again (its by our board in the lunchroom), but then Vanessa said she actually gets the Advocate and will just bring her's in after she's read it. So, score!
Next we decided to have a retreat near the ocean to talk about queer issues on campus, including the affirmative action policy. Wilson is going to look into planning this, hopefully on February 19 or 26. Any thoughts to swilson@lclark.edu.
Then we decided to go to gay skate night in April, just for fun.
Then we talked about the Career Services event, which will hopefully take place March 14-18 sometime.
Then a bunch of us decided to go to Salem for the statewide day of action, so if you'd like to go with us, we may have a bus or van. Rock. That s on March 3. For details email swilson@lclark.edu.
