Office for Victims of Crime & Attorney General Honor Professor Doug Beloof
The Office for Victims of Crime annually recognizes individuals and organizations that demonstrate outstanding service in supporting victims and victim services. This year, on April 8, 2005, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales honored NCVLI’s Executive Director, Professor Doug Beloof, awarding him the Professional Innovation in Victim Service Award.
The National Crime Victims’ Rights Awards, including that received by Professor Beloof, honor those whose outstanding work on behalf of crime victims has earned them the esteem of their colleagues in the victim service and criminal justice fields. The Professional Innovation in Victim Service Award specifically recognizes development of effective methods for expanding the reach of victims' rights and services.
Professor Beloof was nominated by Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona and approved by the Attorney General. Professor Beloof was one of only 15 recipients in six categories nationwide to be recognized this Silver Anniversary of Victims’ Rights Week.
Among the other recipients of the National Crime Victims’ Rights Awards was a second recipient of the Professional Innovation in Victim Service Award, the Crime Victims Legal Assistance Project, a project of Arizona Voice for Crime Victims. The Crime Victims Legal Assistance Project is part of NCVLI’s State/Federal Clinic and System Demonstration Project.
