MG in tree!

My interests are based in the evolutionary ecology of species interactions, with a focus on biodiversity, biogeography and conservation.

I graduated from Lewis and Clark in 2007, where I studied the evolutionary history and biogeography of spiders in the context of venom toxin evolution under my undergraduate advisor, Dr. Greta Binford . I completed an honors thesis integrating phylogenetics, classic fine scale morphology and copulatory/ courtship behavior to examine species boundaries among a recent radiation of Loxosceles (brown recluse spiders) in the desert southwest of North America.

After gradation, I managed a project examining the evolution of defenses in the tropical tree genus Inga and its herbivores under Dr. Lissy Coley and Dr. Tom Kursar at the Los Amigos Biological Station (CICRA) in Peru for 8 months. During this project, I became increasingly interested in the ecology and evolution of species interactions. Here are some photos from my trip .

Currently, I am working as a lab manager under Dr. Peter Kennedy examining plant/fungal and plant/bacterial symbiotic interactions of the Pacific Northwest, eating lots of ice-cream, and hanging out with Charlie the dog.
