Welcome to Biology 223 - Plant Biology

This course emphasizes key concepts of plant biology including morphology, physiology, adaptation to life on land, and ecological interactions with other organisms. Lectures will stress the important roles of plants in both ecosystems and human lives. Students will also learn about the key characteristics of major plant lineages in the context of how plants have become such a diverse and successful group of organisms. Labs will focus on topics highlighted in lectures and allow student to conduct independent research projects on various aspects of plant biology. Two weekend field trips will be conducted to demonstrate topics discussed in lecture.
