Bjorn Southard

Assistant Professor

bjornBjørn Stillion Southard received his doctoral training in Rhetoric and Political Culture from the University of Maryland and his B.A. at Willamette University. Bjørn teaches classes in public speaking, argumentation, and American public address. His research concerns the public arguments about race and law. His current interest is the African colonization movement in early-nineteenth century America. Bjorn also serves as the Co-Director of Lewis & Clark's Speech and Debate Team. Bjørn's research has appeared in the journal Argumentation and Advocacy and the edited volumes Engaging Argument and Critical Problems in Argumentation. His work will also be seen in forthcoming issues of the International Journal of Listening and Voices of Democracy.
