hammerstromRICHARD HAMMERSTROM is an Emmy and Telly award winning Television Director, Editor and Producer and has worked on numerous documentaries, special events, music performance and concert programs. His network credits include PBS, CBS and NBC. Additionally, his work has been exhibited in New York at the American Museum of Natural History, in Seattle at the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival and in Portland, Oregon at the Portland Art Museum’s Northwest Film and Video Festival.

Richard Hammerstrom earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television from Washington State University and has done graduate studies in History, Political Science and Education at San Francisco State University and Portland State University. The primary focus of his work is concert and symphonic music performance. Richard is presently a staff member of Oregon Public Broadcasting.

In addition to television production, Richard's other passion is sailing and teaching the art of sailing. Hammerstrom has been sailing since high school in a variety of craft, ranging from 26' sloops to 42' ketches in waters ranging from Puget Sound, the Columbia River, to San Francisco Bay. Specializing in Navigation and Piloting, Richard received his maritime education at the College of Alameda in Alameda, California. He is currently an Adjunct Faculty Member in the Physical Education/Athletics Department at Lewis & Clark College.
