Jonathan Kozol is an educator, activist and author of nonfiction works that focus on issues of race, poverty, and education. His first book, Death at an Early Age (1967) received the 1968 National Book Award. Savage Inequalities (1991), a bestseller, was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in 1992.
Sponsored by Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education & Counseling in partnership with Portland Schools Foundation (Community Engagement), Chalkboard and Stand for Children.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the “Theodore Roosevelt Woman’s Scholarship Association” at Roosevelt High School.
