Denise Rollin ’80 is the human resources manager at the University of Washington, Bothell Campus.

Sheila Kilbride Shusterich ’81 teaches music education methods courses in elementary and early childhood music. She also supervises student teachers at the University of Minnesota at Duluth.

Kevin Porter ’82 has left the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to work for Exeter Associates, a small energy consulting firm. He will be working on renewable energy, developing markets for green power and general electric power matters.

Nancy Pearen Jones ’83 and husband Michael welcomed their daughter, Rachel Lanette, Sept. 30, 2000. Rachel joins sister Evelyn, 3. Jones is enjoying staying at home with her two girls.

Jonathan Long ’83 and wife Gina welcomed daughter Grace Marie-Louise, who was born Oct. 12, 2000. Long is a major in the U.S. Army and works within the Defense Contract Management Agency. He manages $30 million in defense-related contracts and programs in the Orange County area. The family is enjoying living in sunny California.

Carol Harvey Sampey ’83 and husband Jim welcomed twins, Ryan and Rachel, who were born Dec. 21, 2000.

Nancy Ann Marenakos Bilby ’85 currently works for her gallery from a home office while her children, Nathaniel, 4, and Christopher, 1, are young. Her gallery can be viewed online at www.questgallery.com.

Katherine (Katie) Cook ’85 and husband Tom Reitmann welcomed daughter Annika Reitmann.

Catherine Gibson Green ’85 and husband Todd welcomed daughter Jacqueline Grace Jewell, who was born June 27, 2000. Jacqueline joins brother Benjamin, 2. Green is AT&T’s director of sales for the Middle East, Europe and Africa. She and her family reside in New Jersey.

Renee Rogers Kotz ’85 and husband Brad welcomed daughter Allaire Feb. 12. Allaire joins sister Annelise.

Mike Teskey ’85 is the new alumni director at Reed College. For the past four years, Teskey served as Lewis & Clark’s alumni director.

Miriam Cahn Yoshida ’85 recently relocated from New York City to Madison, N.J., with husband Makoto Yoshida ’86 and their two daughters, Maia, 4, and Nina, 2. Miriam is working as portfolio manager for Liberty Corner Asset Management in Summit, N.J., a $120-million hedge fund that specializes in fixed-income arbitrage. Makoto is senior researcher for the Lesson Study Research Group at Teachers College, Columbia University. His work focuses on using a Japanese teacher-training method, called Lesson Study, to improve teaching in American schools. Makoto also does consulting for the National Academy of Sciences and school districts in New York City and New Jersey.

Mark Bernard ’86 and wife Jennifer welcomed daughter Kirah Linae, who was born fall 2000.

Jane Freedman ’86 and husband Jean Paul McDaniels welcomed daughter Bella Shea.

Robyn Davis Krentz ’86 and husband Carl recently moved to Ottawa, Canada.

Kimberly (Kim) Riley Smith ’86 continues to work as a project manager for a cancer research center in Denver. She works on chronic illness self-management education programs that serve Denver’s Latino community. Smith’s husband, Roy, works for the Bureau of Land Management as the statewide water rights manager. The couple have two daughters, Elena, 5, and Marie, 2. The family enjoys the great weather, skiing, biking and mountain activities Denver provides.

Charles Chamberlain ’87 received his doctorate in history from Tulane University of Louisiana in 1999. He has worked as library assistant at the Hogan Jazz Archives in New Orleans since 1996 and as adjunct professor of U.S. history at Tulane and Xavier universities. Chamberlain and his wife, Carolyn Thompson, have a son, Joshua, who was born in April 2000.

Deanna Scroggin Nihill ’87 recently had her third child and is busy with motherhood. She uses her science skills to teach natural childbirth classes and to lead nature walks for preschoolers.

Kathleen Crouch ’88 and husband Chris Munro welcomed their son, Marshall John, March 31, 2000. The family resides in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Gilion Geihs Ellis Dumas ’88, J.D. ’92 married James Dumas Nov. 11, 2000. She started her own law practice two years ago.

Bjorn Kjellstrom ’88 has been with the European Parliament for the past five years. He also worked with the European Union for 10 years.

Kimberly Swanson ’88 served as editor of A Milwaukee Woman’s Life on the Left: The Autobiography of Meta Berger, which was published recently.

Katy Fink-Johnson ’89 and husband Eric Johnson celebrated the birth of their second child, Benjamin Donald, who was born Dec. 29, 2000. Benjamin joins brother Nicholas, 3. Katy and Eric live in Clinton, S.C., where Katy teaches voice and piano part-time from their home. She also teaches Kindermusik at Presbyterian College in Clinton.

Scott B. Pillar ’89 is the owner of Greycoast Staffing, a technical and executive search firm. He serves on the board of directors of the Crook/Deschutes Educational Service District. Pillar and his wife, Sally, make their home in the woods north of Sisters.

David Decker '81David Decker ’81 recently attended the SuperFest Film and Video Festival in Berkeley, Calif. His company, Mercury Productions, won Best of Festival for his production of Kids Just Want To Have Fun! a program for the Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland. The program targets a kindergarten to fifth-grade audience and is designed to support children with physical differences and to educate their peers. David and his wife, Emily Nelson Decker ’85, welcomed their third child, Andrew Nelson, who was born April 28. Andrew joins brother Matthew, 6, and sister Kathryn, 2.

Brenna Sage '83Brenna Sage (formerly Lori Brenna) ’83 recently accepted a position with American Classic Voyages. She is a pianist on the Columbia Queen line. When on land, she works as a free-lance music director, vocalist, musical theater musician, conductor, choral director, organist, pianist and composer/arranger. Sage also handles Musical Instrument Digital Interface sequencing and compact disc production for theatrical pieces. She lives in Portland.
