Brita Rice ’71 has been librarian for Alyeska Central School, Alaska’s centralized correspondence school, since 1987.

Manuel (Manny) Cabral ’72 is a professor of mathematics at Leeward Community College and has been chair of the Mathematics and Sciences Division since 1988. He and his wife, Kathleen, have been married for 22 years and have two children, Lauren, 21, and Jessica, 11.

Mark Anderson ’74 was recently appointed chair of the Business Division at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, Ariz. His wife, Kathleen Gerlitz Anderson ’74 , continues to teach kindergarten in the Thatcher schools. The Andersons’ daughter, Elise, is a college senior who is majoring in elementary education at Brigham Young University. Their son, Ryan, is serving on a two-year mission to the Spanish-speaking people of New York for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Christine Swanson ’73, M.A.T. ’74 is currently working on a geography series for fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students. The series combines photographs, journals and factual information. Swanson is a member of the board of alumni.

Paul Zorner ’76 has left his position as chief scientist for Dow Chemical’s Global Biotechnology Platform to cofound Telanetix Corp. The new company designs and builds immersive, digital classrooms that support live, interactive communication across vast distances and that are used to add human presence to distance learning programs.

Catherine White Hicks ’77 works as wire editor for The Walla Walla (Wash.) Union-Bulletin. She is divorced and has three daughters: Loree, 19; Elisabeth, 12; and Natalie, 11. Hicks is actively involved with her church, Calvary Church of Walla Walla, and stays busy with her children. She lives in College Place, Wash.

Richard Brown ’78 is the director of instructional media services at Walden University in Minneapolis. He spends his free time on photography, glassworking and woodworking.

James Robertson ’78 is enjoying the first year of a three-year assignment in Japan.

Marilee Schiff ’78 has been director of public affairs at St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash., for 13 years. Two of her three children are in college. Schiff remains active in the community and spends her free time tending to home, yard, dogs and birds.

Mary Berni ’79 is a doctoral candidate at the School of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Memphis. She hopes to finish her doctorate next year. Her dissertation is on infant babbling and first words. Berni has three children: two teenage boys and an energetic toddler girl.

Carla Hernandez ’79 recently moved to San Diego from Germany.

Jon M. Higley ’79 is in his 21st year of teaching at the elementary level. His two avocations are managing a local historical society’s Web site and helping with a land-speed vehicle project.

Cyndie Glazer '76Cynthia (Cyndie) Johnson Glazer ’76 recently stepped down after 11 years as executive director of the Portland Creative Conference. She now works for Will Vinton Studios as the communications and special events coordinator. Glazer was awarded the Lake Oswego Community Leader of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce in April. Her daughter, Francie Burkhart, graduated from Claremont McKenna College and works in Los Angeles. Her son, Lewie Burkhart, is a student and football player at the University of California at Davis. Her husband, Peter Glazer, is a trial lawyer.
