On November 7, the College honored three stellar alumni at the annual Alumni Honors Banquet: Etta Kralovec ’70, Distinguish Alumna Award; Brad Cairns ’87, Outstanding Young Alumnus Award; and Charles J. Swindells ’64, Donald G. Balmer Citation.

Kralovec focuses on improving public education
Etta Kralovec ’70 was such a lackluster high school student that a guidance counselor once told her she wasn’t even fit to work "in the ribbon department of a dime store." Today, thousands of teachers, parents, and students are grateful she overcame the slight.

"It was a transforming moment," recalls Jamie Forman ’81, partner and chair of the Commercial Litigation Practice Group with Rider, Bennett, Egan & Arundel in Minneapolis.
In 1994, as special project coordinator for the Children’s Project of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, he and 60 other YLD members traveled to the District of Columbia Superior Court to scrub and paint the walls of sterile waiting rooms and furnish each room with books, toys, and a bookcase.
