Qualified Retirement Plans*


Description:

This course describes the various types of qualified retirement plans adopted by employers for their employees, including (1) reasons for adopting such plans; (2) types of plans; (3) requirements for the plan's tax qualification; (4) plan selection; (5) nondiscrimination rules; (6) taxation of distributions; and (7) termination of plans. Included will be consideration of individual retirement arrangements (IRAs) and plans established by self-employed individuals.

In addition to the qualification rules, the course will cover how a plan operates and practical examples of how the rules are applied based upon the instructor's experience in the field. The text is prepared by the instructor.
