School of Law Law School Registrar Course Schedule Agriculture Environmental Law Seminar

Agriculture Environmental Law Seminar*

Description:

This seminar examines the impact of environmental law on agriculture, including the effect of the Clean Water Act on wetlands, point source and non-point source pollution, the effect of Federal Farm Bill provisions regarding land and water conservation, and the regulation of pesticides under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). Special problems arising from confined animal feeding operations and the effect of the Endangered Species Act on farming and ranching, particularly with regard to grazing on public lands, will also be addressed. Students will be evaluated by class participation and a paper satisfying the "A" or "B" writing requirement for graduation.

The American Bar Association accreditation standards require students to regularly attend the courses in which they are registered. Lewis & Clark expects students to attend classes regularly and to prepare for classes conscientiously. Specific attendance requirements may vary from course to course. Any attendance guidelines for a given class must be provided to students in a syllabus or other written document at the start of the semester. Sanctions (e.g., required withdrawal from the course, grade adjustment, and/or a failing grade) will be imposed for poor attendance.

*Offered every other year
