International intellectual property laws are increasingly important to the international roll-out of U.S. firms’ products and services. This course will introduce key public and private international law issues implicated by the so-called “globalization” of intellectual property. The key public international law instruments that regulate international IP law (copyrights, patents, trademarks, and related rights) will be considered. In addition, the course will provide an opportunity to engage in a comparative analysis of the approaches of different IP regimes to various social and economic policy issues.
