Environmental Law
Description:
This is a four-credit survey course of federal environmental law. While some policy issues are addressed, the thrust of this course is the law as it exists today. The course examines in some detail the National Environmental Policy Act and provides an introduction to the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the federal statutes dealing with hazardous substances, and international environmental law.
Professor Johnston's and Professor Funk's courses differ in the following ways: Professor Johnston spends some time on administrative law issues; Professor Funk's does not. Professor Funk's course includes environmental law issues; Professor Johnston's does not. Professor Johnston's course is somewhat more intense and goes into more depth with respect to EPA's regulatory programs.
Summer ONLY. An essential course for anyone wanting to practice in this field. This course, taught by the casebook's author, provides a survey of federal environmental laws including the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and federal statutes dealing with hazardous substances.
