Friends and Colleagues Honor Roosevelt Robinson with "Roosevelt Robinson Minority Scholarship Fund"

R. Robinson“It has been said that ‘As a community leader, respected Judge and beloved friend, the Honorable Roosevelt Robinson has touched the lives of many and set a sterling example of legal professionalism in public service’. This is the type of legacy I hope to leave. Receiving this scholarship has pushed me to pursue what I want in a career. I have a strong interest in the public sector and the environmental law field. Receiving this scholarship will help me to focus on what I want to do and what I can do instead of leaning towards a job that will help me pay off loan dept. This shows me that I have a great support network of people in Oregon who are standing behind me.” – Sujata Patel at the 2006 Roosevelt Robinson Minority Scholarship Award Dinner

To honor Roosevelt, his friends and colleagues have come together and established the Roosevelt Robinson Minority Scholarship Fund. "Roosevelt's Fund" is an endowment, providing scholarship funds in perpetuity to students who will contribute to the ethnic diversity of the Oregon Bar. Roosevelt shared that he would be pleased if a scholarship could be created to assist students experiencing similar circumstances as he did as a student: "academically sound but somewhat economically depressed." He also would like the recipient to commit to live and practice in Oregon. The Robinson Scholarship is endowed and the amount of the award is approximately $4,200.
