Lewis & Clark -- Profile for GAC Students

Lewis & Clark is an academically selective, private, four-year institution enrolling 1800 students from throughout the United States and 40 nations. Lewis & Clark is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and offers university-level studies leading to a bachelor’s degree. The curriculum celebrates the liberal arts and sciences, with small classes that allow close contact between students and faculty.

Lewis & Clark’s undergraduate program has a distinctive international character and has long taken pride in its commitment to enrolling and supporting international students. Today, about 100 international students study on campus. Lewis & Clark offers an international student scholarship program. GAC students can earn up to 28 transfer credits towards their degree upon acceptance to Lewis & Clark.

Lewis & Clark Offers:

• National reputation with a diverse student body. Lewis & Clark ranks in the top 100 national liberal arts colleges in the US. More than 80% of the students come from outside of Oregon.

• Small classes that permit interaction with faculty members. Eighty-nine percent of classes have fewer than 29 students. Average class size is 18.

• Financial aid awards and merit-based scholarships for qualified international students. Average financial aid award of $10,500.

• Twenty-eight semester credits of transfer work to students who successfully complete the GAC curriculum, including 8 credits toward core requirements.

• Academic English Studies (AES) support for students who wish to improve their English. Up to twelve credits of additional AES credit may be applied toward a Lewis & Clark degree for GAC students.

• Library is open 24 hours a day weekdays and offers a large collection of books, periodicals, and on-line research materials. Library is a member of ORBIS, a consortium of nineteen academic libraries with a unified catalog.

• On-campus housing is available. Theme housing includes: multicultural/international awareness, outdoor pursuits; visual and performing arts; and, environmental action.

• Safe campus environment in a great residential neighborhood.

• Excellent services for international students: free airport pickup; new student orientation; friendship family program; conversation partner program; housing available during vacation breaks; full use of facilities.

• Easy access to downtown Portland via free shuttle service.

• Easy access to Portland International Airport. Only 25 minutes from campus. Daily international flights.

About Portland
