Honeycombed News: Forty Local Blooms
2003, Acrylic, photocopy toner, and PVA glue on paper
23 x 17.5 inches each
A series of 40 stencil paintings, hung in sets of 10 throughout the inner corridors connecting the north and south lobbies. The newspapers in these paintings were obtained from students and represent different communities from all over the world. The botanical silhouettes were created using plant materials collected on the Lewis & Clark campus. This piece speaks to the abundance of information implicit in the idea of society, the dispersal of that information, and the importance of communication within a communal structure.
