Meditating Boxes
2004, Mounted objects on fabric panels in wheat board and Plexiglas boxes
77 x 48 x 4.5 inches
The first works seen when entering Howard Hall from the south or north entrance are the Meditating Boxes. These are wall-mounted shadow boxes made of environmentally friendly wheat board and lined with recycled fabrics in various patterns and colors. They are actually boxes within boxes, arranged in scale increments based on the proportions of the Golden Mean. All of the objects within the boxes where provided by Lewis & Clark staff, faculty and students. These collectibles span about 100 years, and eventually the objects that register as markers from the present will become artifacts themselves.
