Old biology photo s06Remembering Field Biology

It was a total surprise when I picked up my copy of the winter/spring Lewis & Clark Chronicle and saw my picture on the back cover. The picture was taken 61 years ago! It sure brought back memories of when I was there in the woods in the field biology class. Of course, Dr. Thaxter was the jewel of the faculty. If it wasn’t for that class, I would never remember Pseudotsuga taxifolia, false hemlock, better known as our common Douglas fir.

The faces of all the girls in the photo are familiar, but the only one I can identify by name is Marily Luster [class of 1947], who is next to Dr. Thaxter.

I always enjoy the Chronicle and also the monthly e-mail updates.
