Another World Instead: William Stafford Peace Symposium

May 14–16

Participants will enjoy films about William Stafford; a daylong poetry workshop in reading, writing, and teaching poetry (led by Kim Stafford and poet Fred Marchant); an evening poetry reading; and a daylong symposium to consider the history of American pacifism and the power of language for growing peace.

House of Words: A Retreat for Teachers

July 13–17

Secondary teachers will journey into the digital and paper resources of the William Stafford Archives at Lewis & Clark in search of primary resources for teaching poetry, ideas, a sense of place, citizenship, and other topics. Eight competitive stipends ($750 each) available.
