Brett Brownscombe J.D. ’00 was named the first-ever conservation director of the Hells Canyon Preservation Council. In his new position, Brownscombe handles the organization’s public lands monitoring programs and engages in other local political work.
Clifton Cannon J.D. ’00 has left the Portland firm of Black Helterline to join Ziba Design as manager of business development.
Regina Cutler J.D. ’00 has left her position as a clerk for the Oregon Court of Appeals to practice environmental and natural resource law at the Seattle firm of Morisset, Schlosser, Jozwiak & McGraw.
Nicholas L. Dazer J.D. ’00 joined the Portland office of Landye Bennet Blumstein as an associate. His practice includes business and personal injury litigation, toxic tort litigation, products liability, and environmental law.
Michael J. Fleming J.D. ’00 has relocated to New York, where he works in the Healthcare Law and Hospital Program at Mendes & Mount.
Brian Forrest J.D. ’00 has joined Blakely Sokoloff Taylor & Zafman in Lake Oswego. His practice involves intellectual property issues, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
Sarah Griffith ’00 earned a master’s degree in Chinese history at Portland State University last summer. In January, Griffith will teach in China. She intends to pursue her Ph.D. when she returns.
Karl Hausafus J.D. ’00 joined the Portland office of Preston Gates & Ellis as an associate. Hausafus is developing a real estate practice, with an emphasis in debtor/creditor law.
Megan Lockett ’00 moved to New Orleans after graduation and taught sixth grade through the Teach for America program.
Mark Neffendorf ’00 has been named principal of Southridge High School in Beaverton. Prior to his appointment, Neffendorf was vice principal for Southridge. He studied for his Basic Administrator License in Lewis & Clark’s Department of Educational Administration.
Tim Revett ’00 worked in the health-and-safety outreach program at Oregon Health & Science University after graduation. He is pursuing a master’s degree in teaching at George Fox University.
Jonathan Barrett ’01 teaches U.S. and modern European history at Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, New Hampshire. He is codirector of the school’s Outing Club, whose members climbed to 17,500 feet on Mount McKinley last summer.
Shannon Benfield-Blankenship ’01 teaches sixth grade in Harlem, New York, with Teach for America. He is pursuing a master’s degree in education at Pace University.
Dale Booth ’01 is an intern at Alabama’s Dauphin Island Sea Lab, studying sea-grass ecology. Her work also takes her to the Gulf of Mexico, Mobile Bay, and the Florida Keys.
Colette Brandenburg ’01 attends dance school at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York. She recently choreographed and danced in the fall and spring performances.
Frank Cieszynski ’01 moved back to Berlin three weeks after graduation. He works as a junior financial consultant for MLP Corporation.
Caroline Coppock J.D. ’01 has accepted a position at Keating Jones in Portland.
Bethany Dengler ’01 moved to Hawaii and lives with Shaen Germain ’00. Dengler tutors K-12 students in science, math, and English. In addition, she works as a biology research assistant, studying marine snails.
Shea Gumusoglu J.D. ’01 has joined Tarlow Naito & Summers in Portland. Her practice emphasizes land use, environmental, real estate, and zoning law.
Brian Hemphill J.D. ’01 is an associate with Motschenbacher & Blattner in Portland.
Keith Hirokawa LL.M. ’01 joined the law office of John S. Karpinski after earning his master of laws degree in environmental and natural resources law.
Christos Jensen ’01, a Fulbright scholar in Dortmund, Germany, instructs students in grades 5 through 13 in English and American studies. He and his students organized "an Adam Sandler holiday special presentation." Jensen is studying media with an emphasis on film and film production at a nearby university. While abroad, he has traveled to 10 countries and 30 cities.
Hilarie Jones ’01 works as a mental health counselor at Lourdes Counseling Center in Richland, Washington. She also coaches the junior varsity girls’ basketball team in Kennewick, Washington.
Sarah Kern J.D. ’01 was sworn into the California State Bar on December 3, 2001. Kern currently practices environmental law at WaterKeepers in San Francisco.
John McCormick ’01 coordinates the Churchill Community Coalition in Fallon, Nevada. He administers policy, acts as the financial agent for grants totaling over $350,000, works to reduce youth problem behaviors, and unites community agencies. McCormick has over 199 contact hours of training in substance abuse prevention, grant writing, administration, and community mobilization.
Todd E. Miller J.D. ’01 took first place in the 2000-01 Indian Law writing competition sponsored by the University of Oklahoma’s American Indian Law Review, the nation’s only specialty Indian law journal.
Taylor Ramsey ’01 teaches third grade in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with Teach for America.
Aimee Sands ’01 worked as a marketing and public relations intern for Dr. Martens AirWair USA, where she helped plan the grand opening of the retailer’s first U.S. store, located on Broadway Avenue in Portland. In September, she moved to Minneapolis to work in Target Corporation’s media relations department.
Brian Street ’01 is studying law and public administration at Florida State University.
Erin Warnick ’01 is enrolled in Yale University’s Ph.D. program in epidemiology and public heath.
Elizabeth Young ’01 lives in Venice, California, where she attends culinary school, specializing in pastry arts.
Robert Canwell ’02 operates a sidewalk stand that sells Indian cuisine in Portland. He is saving money to return to India to study the Dalit Buddhist movement.
Cody Hoesly ’02 attends law school at the University of California at Berkeley’s Boalt Hall.
Dusty Hoesly ’02 attends Yale University Divinity School.
Danielle O’Connel ’02 is enrolled in George Washington University’s master’s degree program in international affairs. Elizabeth Bellardo ’02 is her new roommate.
