Beyond the Beltway

To educate young citizens about the importance of the Senate’s advice-and-consent function, U.S. Senator Gordon Smith and former U.S. Senators Bob Packwood, George McGovern, Mark Hatfield, Paul Simon, and Eugene McCarthy spoke on campus between October 31 and November 8. Lewis & Clark’s political science department and the Northwest Political Science Association, funded by a generous grant from the Arkay Foundation, sponsored the lecture series in Templeton Student Center.
