The Reflective Teacher: A Four- Retreat Courage to Teach Cycle
This series of 4 retreats is designed for new teachers in their first 5 years of teaching, as well as the formal and informal mentors who support them. New teachers in our profession face monumental challenges and dwindling support. It is our hope within these retreats to create sustaining communities for both new teachers and the veteran educators who journey beside them in our schools.
During each of the four retreats, participants will engage in conversations that touch on the ideals and commitments that originally drew them to become professional educators while also creating a space where people can explore the delights and frustrations they have encountered as new teachers, and as support for new teachers. Through the exploration of silence, reflection, and creative expression, the retreats will provide an opportunity for personal and professional growth. Because of the intense community building that often occurs in Courage work, participants need to faithfully commit to attend each of the four retreats. We hope to create a sustaining community for people who have just entering the education profession.
