Wayne Perry, 2005 Distinguished Business Law Graduate

Mr. Perry is being honored as the Law School's first Distinguished Business Law Graduate. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Edge Wireless LLC. Mr. Perry began his telecommunications career at McCaw Cellular Communications Inc. in 1976, serving as primary legal officer, General Counsel, and then Executive Vice President before being named President in 1985. Beginning in 1989, he served as Vice Chairman, a position he retained until McCaw’s merger with AT&T Wireless Services in September 1994. After the merger, Mr. Perry served as Vice-Chairman of AT&T Wireless Services. He later joined NEXTLINK Communications as Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman before co-founding Edge Wireless in 1999.

Mr. Perry served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association, the nationwide wireless industry association, for the 1993-94 term. He is one of the owners of the Seattle Mariners professional baseball team and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Baseball of Seattle, Inc., the managing general partner of the Seattle Mariners. He is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, and a private pilot.

Mr. Perry has a B.A. from the University of Washington (Cum Laude), a J.D. from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College (Cum Laude) and an L.L.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association. Mr. Perry is also a member of the Business School Advisory Board of the University of Washington, the National Advisory Board of the New York University Graduate Tax Program, and currently serves as President of the Boy Scouts of America, Western Region.
