Loening’s Protein Research Raises Questions and Explores OpportunitiesAssistant Professor of Chemistry Niko Loening’s research is casting new light on proteins, one of the basic elements of all living species. Loening is an expert in protein-structure determination, and his work is raising questions about how proteins are formed and how proteins from one species may affect another. Multicultural Symposium Expands Understanding of Global MigrationHoping to break through the politics and polemics of the immigration issue, a group of Lewis & Clark students is asking people to reconsider their understanding of immigration and its effects on the United States. The upcoming Ray Warren Multicultural Symposium, Landscapes of Migration, will focus on why people migrate, how migration affects culture and identity, and how such movement relates to larger socio-political issues. Graduate School Partners With Egyptian University to Create Egypt’s First Family Therapy ProgramLewis & Clark has developed a partnership with the faculty at Menoufiya University in Shebin El-Kom, Egypt, to help the university build its country's first marriage and family therapy program. Lewis & Clark faculty members and students, in turn, will learn from the expertise of the Egyptian faculty and enhance their own cultural competency.
