Welcome to Lewis & Clark College's eNews, a monthly update of news and events at Lewis & Clark College. We send eNews to alumni, parents, and friends of the campus community. College NewsPamplin Society welcomes seven new membersSeven sophomores at Lewis & Clark College have been selected to join the Dr. Robert B. Pamplin Jr. Society of Fellows. Founded in 1993, the society includes 21 current students and more than 70 alumni. Membership is extended to seven students each year as they begin their second year at Lewis & Clark. Political pundit David Broder to give talkNationally syndicated Washington Post political columnist David Broder will give a talk titled "Political Horizons: Bush and Beyond," on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber of Templeton Student Center at Lewis & Clark College. A survey for the Washingtonian magazine found that Broder was rated "Washington's most highly regarded columnist" by both editorial-page editors and members of Congress. This event is free and open to the public.
McMenamins distiller, Lee Medoff '86, featured in OregonianInside the distillery at McMenamins Edgefield, the gin is flowing. The old stable building has been converted to something akin to a scientist's lab. It's loaded with tubs, tubes, bottles, barrels and boxes of spices ready to be converted into handmade liquor. Since 1998, Edgefield has been making the booze it serves at more than 50 McMenamins bars and restaurants in the Northwest. Lee Medoff is the distiller. Spirited youth: Medoff has been involved in making alcohol since he was a kid. Lecture series examines civility in politicsSix of the nation's top political scientists and observers will examine public involvement in and understanding of American politics during a lecture series on civility in politics at Lewis & Clark College. Participants include Peter J. and Mary Katzenstein and David Broder. All lectures are free and open to the public in the college's Templeton Student Center Council Chamber.
