Welcome to Lewis & Clark College's eNews, a monthly update of news and events at Lewis & Clark College. We send eNews to alumni, parents, and friends of the campus community. College NewsGraduate school earns prestigious national accreditationTeachers and advanced educators who earn degrees or certification from Lewis & Clark College’s Graduate School of Education and Counseling meet the highest national standard of excellence in their field. Lewis & Clark’s graduate school has earned a spot in an elite group of national schools of education accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, known as NCATE. Accreditation by the council ensures that teacher candidates know their subject and know how to teach it effectively. Three alumni join Board of TrusteesLewis & Clark College has welcomed three new members to its Board of Trustees: Stephen H. Dover, Thomas P. Rasmussen and James T. Richardson. “Each of these individuals has a special connection to Lewis & Clark that will serve the college well,” said Lewis & Clark College President Thomas J. Hochstettler. “Their diverse experiences, broad perspectives, and personal interest in Lewis & Clark will benefit the institution in the years to come.” Nominate Alumni for the Alumni Honors BanquetEach fall, the Alumni Honors Banquet recognizes alumni for distinction in their chosen field and exceptional leadership qualities. To help identify alumni who have excelled in their careers, we ask faculty, alumni, and staff to consider candidates for three awards: The Distinguished Alumni Award, The Outstanding Young Alumni Award, and the Donald G. Balmer Citation for outstanding voluntary service. Holiday Gala marks 33rd anniversaryHoliday celebrations filled with music, dancing, and good cheer are planned for members of the campus community, friends, and neighbors at Lewis & Clark College’s 33rd annual holiday gala.
