Portland is a great city to explore, especially by bike, and that’s one of my favorite things to do. Everyone at L&C has their own interesting perspective on things, so I love just socializing and chilling with other students on or off campus. I also play on the lacrosse team, DJ for KLC Radio, host prospective students, and tutor at an elementary school.

That’s not to de-emphasize classes, which are also great. Major Periods and Issues in English Literature with Kurt Fosso was my favorite, but there are lots of great ones out there.

I’m only in my second year, but I have big plans for my future — I intend to go on the Strasbourg overseas program in the spring of 2010, which I think will be great. After that, who knows? I think I’d like to stay in Portland and work for a few years, and maybe start a career here.

English and Classical Studies

Individual attention from professors is my favorite thing about L&C. Even if a school like Harvard or Yale sounds good because it’s famous, there’s no guarantee that you will be happy or be able to get the one-on-one attention you can get here. I’ve had wonderful professors, especially in Introduction to Classical Studies and Latin.

I love to write stories and plays, or just spend time reading. I’m also involved in orchestra, the Historical Fencing Club, Gaming Society, French Club, and International Dance, so I definitely stay busy. I still have time to just talk and hang out with friends though.
