I have reached this very peculiar state of mind? There is basically a week left of class until reading days. Let me rephrase that in a way that might convey my disbelief/panic/excitement: I have seven days of actual class left until it’s time to hit the books, study for finals, and um take off for summer?? Okay hello, sorry I just needed to put that out there before I did the normal blog thing and told you about my past week and stuff. Alright, so last week was actually really great. I feel as if it was mainly just filled with general business. I was mainly just anxious to get home for Passover. The nice thing about the Raz at Lewis & Clark is that you can take it downtown, and then hop on the max (basically public transportation in Portland) right to the airport. I think my max ticket was $1.40 with my student discount? So basically you can get where you need to go without a taxi or a car in Portland. And that is just plain excellent. Home was really nice. Apparently it was supposed to snow in Portland this weekend (it didn’t) but I was pretty stoked to leave for sunny California. But California was pretty cold too! It was windy and freezing. So at home, I essentially cooked up a storm. My mom and I constructed a FEAST. We made traditional Jewish foods such as matzah ball soup, haroset, and the traditional sedar plate. We also made normal food like quinoa, roasted sweet potatoes and squash, roasted veggies, and two delicious desserts. I tried cheesecake for the first time! I didn’t think I would like it at all? Cream cheese belongs on a bagel not in a cake! Boy, was I wrong. It was….monumental (to say the least). I find myself missing the most random things about home? For example, the dark and actual silence of my room at night? My lover-boy doggie Charlie Brown? Shopping at Trader Joes basically every day? Anyway, it is just funny how much you miss these little things. But they are always there when you come back home, so no worries at all =). I took a shuttle back to campus on Sunday. The driver was from Ethiopia. He was really awesome. We talked the entire ride back to campus about Africa. It make me realize how badly I want to go on the East Africa abroad trip! I think I might apply. On Sunday night, I went to acappella practice! We worked a lot on We Will Become Silhouettes and Toxic by Brtiney Spears. Clearly, it was a fantastic practice. Now? I guess I’m a little bit overwhelmed by work. It hasn’t exactly hit me yet, but I have quite a bit to do. In lab today, I have to give a presentation about relative fitness. On Monday, my final research paper is due in Exploration & Discovery. Thankfully my rough draft is pretty solid, so I don’t have a lot to do. On Thursday, I have a final research paper due for Developmental. Oy vey, right?! Okay, that’s enough for now. If you have any questions about Lewis & Clark College or just want to talk about selection coefficients, pluralism, or Michelangeloß, my email address is sraskoff@lclark.edu.
