Well, had some really odd weather this morning... SNOW! It wasn't much, maybe 1/2 an inch, it doesn't look like it's going to stick for very long, but it's really nice to see some again. I'm still in shorts and tee shirt (I had to forego the Birkenstocks since I don't want frostbite). I really love the air after it snows, so crisp and clean. There's a couple of snowmen on the Knoll (the big grass place between the Manor house and the athletic compound). A bunch of Akin people got snow crazy this morning, there was a snowball fight right under my window. Snow must be scarce around here. I'm used to several feet of the stuff, so 1/2 inch is a light dusting to me.

My Comparative Political Systems essay has finally gotten off the ground, just barely though. After I spoke with Dr. Chessa, my professor, I finally figured out what I was supposed to do. Most, if not all, of the professors here are always willing to help you with any questions or concerns. Most keep their office doors open when they're in there, it's nice to know that they're available to talk.

Odd fact/rumour of the day : Apparently Cinnamon helps concentration. My roommate, Taka, bought a small container of raw cinnamon and started to suck on it. He gave me one and said it helps his concentration. I don't know if it's working but it sure beats the aftertaste of shepherds pie.

I went to a really great Japanese restaurant in Portland on Saturday called Koji. According to their business card they have 5 locations, 4 in Portland and one in Seattle. I'll post the location of the one I went to at the end of this post. They make really good Miso soup if you're into it, and the Gyozo is really good too. I highly recommend it.

L&C on the weekends is nice. No pressures on what you should do, unless of course, you have work :), but there are no classes and no time tables to keep, unless you have something planned. My weekends revolve around meal times, brunch starts at 1100, I don't know when it ends, and I know Dinner ends are 1815 (6:15PM), but I don't know when it starts. I usually get dinner around 1800 (6PM), so I don't miss it. I usually end up going into Portland or hanging around the dorms, which is pretty much all I do anyway. I generally don't do much work on Friday or Saturday. I get to pick up all of the slack on Sunday, which seems to be the general game plan around here.
